Personal record: Martine F. Delfos, born in 1947 in the Netherlands, married, two children. Educational background: Clinical Psychology at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, in the early seventies. French literature at the same university in the early nineties. She hopes to defend her thesis Psychology and French Literature in autumn this year at the University of Utrecht. Subject of the thesis: the effects of the premature loss of a parent (during their youth) on the work of French writers from 1550 till 1950. Professional record: Psychotherapist: specialized in multitraumatized children and adults and in psychiatric problems. She has worked with adolescent refugees since 1980. Since 25 years active in the field of child welfare. Writer: several books on developmental psychology and psychopathology. Therapeutic chidren's books on difficult subjects, like sexual abuse, growing up with alcohol and drug addicted parents, adoption. Series of books on sexual education for children from 10 years on and for adults. In preparation: a book for parents on Asperger's syndrome; the continuation of the series on sexual education (6 books have already been published from a total of 11 subjects); a book on talking with children from 4 to 12 years old; a book on human sexuality. Nominated for the 'Against her will' trophy 1999 for her books about sexual abuse. Articles on divers subjects, like a model of the development of intimacy during life. Teacher: she teaches professionals in the field of psychology, pedagogy, social work, education and medicine. In 1997, she founded the PICOWO, an institute for research in the field of psychobiological models of development and sexuality.
