Father Shay Cullen, Born,Dublin , Ireland 27/3/43 , an Irish Roman Catholic Priest of the Missionary Society of St. Columban was educated at the Harold Schools (elementary ) Glasthule, Christian Brothers Monkstown park for two years of Secondary Education and three years at the Presentation College, Glasthule, Sandycove, Co Dublin where he graduated with the leaving certificate.

He entered St.Columban's Seminary, Dalagan park, Navan ,Co Meath in 1963 Was ordained to the priesthood April 1969 and was assigned to the Philippines September that year. He was posted to St.Joseph's Church Olongapo City ,Diocese of Iba.

The Bishop was Monsg. Henry Byrne DD. A Columban. (Present bishop is Bishop Deogracias S. Iñiguez Jr.DD.) Fr. Shay Cullen was assigned to the rural parish of San Marcelino in late 1970 returned to Ireland in 1971 for the death of his father . Worked on mission awareness and vocations for some months in Ireland and returned to the Philippines by an overland route through Europe and Asia ,taking 3 and half months and stayed with Mother Theresa in Calcutta working for a while with the lepers, the dying and street children and returned to the Philippines late 1972.

There he took up further language studies , trained in the operation and management of a Drug Rehabilitation Center, took courses in psychology and Hypnoses and set up the Preda Foundation (People's Recovery, Empowerment, and Development Assistance Foundation) in 1974 in Olongapo

City with co-founders Mrs. Merle Ramirez Hermoso and Alex Corpus Hermoso ,the General manager and Programme director of Preda until the present. He organized basic Christian communities around Olongapo during martial law and after, developed the concept and practice of the Therapeutic primal community in the Philippines for sexually abused children and traumatised

youth, he developed and campaigned for the conversion of the US Military bases to economic zones in 1984 to 1992 when the bases closed and the zeconomic zones were established. He is a pioneer in establishing the Fair Trade movement in the Philippines.

Fr.Shay is the youngest of a family of six , three brothers and Three sisters. His father and two brothers are deceased. His Mother, Mary Elizabeth Bradshaw ,now almost 91 , in good health lives in Glenageary ,Co Dublin.

International speaker , campaigner for children's rights , media commentator, writer, photographer, journalist. He has appeared in almost a dozen television documentaries and over a hundred newspaper and magazine articles.
