Dear Colleague,
On behalf of the Organization and Scientific Program committees of
the 18th European Health Psychology Society (EHPS) Conference, and the
host organization of the conference, the Department of Psychology at
the University of Helsinki, I have a great pleasure and honour to
welcome you to Helsinki, Finland.
The conference promises to be a rich and stimulating international
event, contributing to the research, practice, policy and conceptual
development of health psychology. The Helsinki conference provides a
unique opportunity to bring together experts in the field of health
psychology from all over the world to exchange ideas, information and
the latest research findings. The conference welcomes the most
important and innovative contributions of research, as the high level
of the presentations accepted indicates.
The Scientific Programme Committee has had a great pleasure of
inviting experts of health psychology research as keynote speakers,
and has assembled a number of outstanding speakers that have accepted
our invitation. These speakers include Jens B. Asendorpf from Germany,
Liisa Keltikangas-Järvinen from Finland, Hannah McGee from Ireland,
Karen A. Matthews from USA, Brian Oldenburg from Australia, and
Michael F. Scheier from USA.
Besides the scientific activities, the conference offers the
opportunity the send some days in Helsinki. We also believe that
Helsinki, the capital of the republic of Finland, a modern city with
over half a million inhabitants, standing on a peninsula and several
islands in the Baltic sea will offer participants an exciting and
attractive environment during the mid-summer of 2004.
I wish you a profitable and interesting exchange of knowledge, and
a pleasant stay in Helsinki.
Katri Räikkönen-Talvitie
